Brr! It’s that chilly time of year that seems to stretch on indefinitely in this part of the world. Starting as early as October and no one is confident it’s over until the May long weekend, winter is a way of life in Alberta that we must embrace!

Winter Health & Safety

Freezing temperatures comes with special considerations. From how we dress to where and how we play, here are some things to keep in mind during the cooler months.

Snow Tubing & Sledding

Not big on strapping boards to your feet to go down a hill? Why not try snow tubing or sledding?

Ice Skating

Ice skating is one of the lowest cost of entry activities you can do in the winter. Ice skates can often be picked up second hand for $10-20 at garage sales or on Marketplace.

Make sure you also wear a well fitting CSA approved hockey helmet (not a bike helmet!) while learning.

Don’t forget to get your skates sharpened!

Get a day outdoors, amuse the kids, and get dinner? You’ve got to try ice fishing!
