Little Bow Provincial Park is a great place to spend a few days or weeks camping. The nearby reservoir with a marked off swimming area is the top attraction – spend the day lounging on the beach catching the sunshine, build a sandcastle, paddle board or bring your boat and jet skis. An onsite concession is available to treat yourself to ice cream, hot dogs or hamburgers, plus essentials like milk and ice, making it easy to stay for several days.

Our first camping trip of 2016 was a two night weekend tenting at Garner Lake Provincial Park. We had gorgeous weather {ironically this mid June camping trip was our best weather weekend of our entire camping season!}. The rest of the summer was hit and miss weather with lots of rainy camping trips for us. Every year we pick a campground north of Edmonton that is new to us. that year, Garner Lake Provincial Park was our choice.

30 minutes west of Edmonton you’ll find 480 acre Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area. We went out for a hike (okay, so maybe it was more of a walk) and discovered so much more! From the little playground, to the interpretive signs, docks (anyone else’s kids obsessed with running out onto every. single. dock they encounter?), and more, it was a spirit-renewing outing in the woods.
