Jasper is an amazing getaway for families but can be a hard place to find a kids breakfast! If you’re looking for a quick breakfast from a bakery it’s relatively easy with options such as Bear Paws Bakery. If you’re looking for breakfast for your toddler you’re going to have a harder time. We did a little sleuthing around one of our favourite mountain towns for the best places to take kids for breakfast while you’re there.
Where to eat breakfast with your kids in Jasper.
Bear Paws Bakery
This one is a given as it’s a Jasper staple. Go here for the massive sticky cinnamon buns and you get to stay for the delicious coffee.
Kid Friendly Options: muffins, croissants and bakery goodness.
Coco’s Cafe
Great place if you’ve got older kids or kids that will eat food other than pancakes and french toast. My kids are still stuck in the “will not eat anything that isn’t beige” phase (sigh) and so I had to say goodbye to eating a delicious huevos rancheros breakfast.
Kid Friendly Options: fruit smoothies, scrambled eggs and bagels.
Smitty’s
Smitty’s has been in Jasper forever and since it’s a chain restaurant there is a well-established kids breakfast menu. If your kids want their french toast Smitty’s is easy. In saying that, I didn’t love eating there. The kids’ portions are tiny (which is great if you’re going with a toddler) and the food all around just wasn’t that great.
Kid Friendly Options: There’s a kids menu & lots to choose from.
Wicked Cup
We didn’t eat here, but I’ll definitely be checking it out next time I’m in Jasper with my kids. The adult’s menu looks delicious and there’s a kids menu too!
Kid Friendly Options: Kids breakfasts are $7 and include pancakes (yesss).
Jasper Park Lodge
I’ve saved my favourite for last. Don’t be put off by the fact that it’s a Fairmont hotel, and granted, you shouldn’t roll up to the restaurant in your dirty camping clothes, but I LOVE the JPL to go and eat at the Emerald Lounge because kids eat free if they’re 5 and under and if they’re 12 and under there’s a great kids menu that is very reasonable. You will make up this cost in your breakfast, but it’s great if you want to treat yourself and eat in the historic hotel.
We’ve not included hotel breakfast locations and so if you’re staying in a hotel in Jasper, best to check out if they have breakfast available and if they do…. that they’re open during the week. We were visiting mid-week and the restaurant was closed during the week.
What did we miss? Is there a place you always go to when in Jasper?
